A departing birder advised me that the Garganey had moved on but I was recompensed with adding Sedge Warbler and Common Tern to my year list.  Also Lapwing and Black-tailed Godwits and a smaller plover.  The scrape is at the limit of the range of my scope so whether this was Ringed Plover or Little Ringed Plover I could not tell.

I pedalled down the cycle track to the Swindon lagoons again this evening and was rewarded with three pairs of Tufties, one pair of Gadwall, Coots, Moorhens and  a Little Grebe on the water and the Mute Swans on the nest.  In the area the highlights were a pair of Bullfinches, a Chiffchaff, 2 Song Thrushes, and a Roe Deer.  I heard a Green Woodpecker and possibly a Lesser Whitethroat (usually found along that stretch) but I could not locate it.

Liden Lagoon
Location

I had a walk around the Lagoon and could only see the resident pair of Mute Swans and the 2 cygnets, it looks as if the singleton must have gone on to waters new. The lagoon was very quiet and there were very few ducks on view. I saw approx 20 Mallard and 1 probable female Gadwall. There was not one Tufted Duck showing. The Water Rail appears to have gone, as I haven't seen it in the last 10 days. The Canada Geese actually number 6 goslings and not 5 as i first thought.  There was also a solitary Great Crested Grebe. I saw my first Swallow today and I am almost certain, although it was a very quick sighting, 2 Common Sandpipers.

I spent an hour or so looking out from Twitchers gate this afternoon, no sign of Marsh Harrier when I left at 5:20pm. Main highlights were the 6 Black-tailed Godwits taking off and flying along the scrape, where there was also an Oystercatcher and 3 Lapwing. A Cuckoo was heard from the direction of CWP Pit 95 and the Nightingale and Cetti's Warbler gave a few bursts of song whilst I was there.

A Common Buzzard came over and was promptly chased of by the corvids and 3 Red-crested Pochard left the Reserve and headed off towards CWP Pit 95.

Birds recorded then were: Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, Mute Swan, Greylag Geese, Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, Mallard, 3 Red-crested Pochard, Tufted Duck, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, Coot, 1 Oystercatcher, 3 Lapwing, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, Black-headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, 1 Cuckoo, Sand Martin, Swallow, Dunnock, 1 Nightingale, Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Sedge Warbler, 1 Cetti's Warbler, Common Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Wren, Magpie, Rook, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, 1 Raven, Chaffinch and Goldfinch.
