I ventured out to CWP Pit 83/Waterhay this morning. The cattle were right by the car park. I didn't spot a bird but as I went on to the path to the left I could see a Cattle Egret amongst them through the trees.

Having heard there was also a Great White Egret about I saw a large white bird fly over 82 so headed there..It was a Mute Swan(!) but there were also some 63 Pochard on the water. I returned to Waterhay and the Cattle Egret had gone.

I went on to Lower Mill but neither I nor another birder could find any Bewick's Swans. Best there were some Goosanders plus, closer to me, a Grey Wagtail and Goldcrest.

Margaret and David Delpy
We went to see the Cattle Egrets today and one was in the field next to Waterhay Car Park. A possible second flew in as we drove up the road. The egrets on the other side of the road with the cattle were Little Egrets.

There were Redwings and lots of Pied Wagtails there also so it was really good.

Day House Lane
Location

3:40pm - 4:20pm. As I pulled up alongside the horse paddocks a Kestrel flew in at speed and took out a Goldfinch that had just landed in the rough grass area to my left. So they don't just hover then! Also two parties of Pied Wagtails left the paddock area to head off to roost. A party of 17 followed the other 8. Also about were 5 Meadow Pipit and a flock of 14 Linnet. Sadly no Barn Owl.

Birds Recorded: 3 Cormorant, 1 Kestrel, Pheasant, 1 Red-legged Partridge, Black-headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Wood Pigeon, 5 Meadow Pipit, 25 Pied Wagtail, Robin, Blackbird, Fieldfare, Redwing, Wren, Rook, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Chaffinch, 14 Linnet and Goldfinch.
